March Favorites

Spring is in full bloom and is a time for change. This month was needed for a change of vibe, especially for me. Spending my days one by one. In routine, when all of the chaos of life is upon us, March felt like a chaotic change of routine. I am a person who loves a good reset. But focusing on the little changes made the hard days even easier.
To start the month, what brought me the most joy was listening to the sweet voice of Olivia Dean. Truly, she was one of a kind and once in a generation. The only person I could compare this angel to was Amy Winehouse. I nominate her as the Super Bowl performer because I truly believe her music touches the souls of every generation. From Rein in me to Man I need. Call me basic, but she is amazing.
Mentioning voices of a generation, said better herself, the creator of Girls, Lena Dunham, has joined the trend of endlessly writing about chaos on Substack. From saying that Apple juice-flavored Ollipop stopped her from vaping more to how to organize your thoughts as a Type B writer. Very specific but like most of her writing, extremely engaging.
Two things that don't seem age-appropriate for a twenty-something-year-old to love this month are fidget toys and the color yellow. I am not the person to age-shame people for their interests. My yellow “butter stick”-shaped fidget toy has brought the children in Tudor so much joy in March. As I am working, my ADHD brain works better with a toy by my side. Hey, don’t knock it until you try it.
At the end of the month, I headed to visit my family in Vegas. Yes, that is a very Kiki place to have family from. The glamorous, party town shaped my genetics. Yet, I am not a huge gambler, partly because I am extremely uncompetitive. I am not “pick me” when I say I couldn’t care if I win or lose. But my family is experienced with my playing BlackJack. I was able to create a fun, winning energy that I was too scared to repeat. I have played blackjack before, but on this trip, I had a winning streak that even the most uncompetitive girl would find interesting.
Something familiar that I always come back to is Seven Sundays Brown Butter Latte. I currently work in marketing and literally all things creative, which is pretty great, but it also gives me a chance to get to know different areas and businesses (coffee shops) and to sit inside and do my work. One of my all-time favorites, which I regret sharing, is Seven Sundays Coffee Shop. It is a very popular coffee shop in my area, but without a doubt, they have the best iced latte ever. I am not a sweet coffee girl, but this latte has just the right amount of sugar to incorporate into my day.
Even though I am a writer, this next March favorite I don’t feel like I can explain, it is croutons, and yes, the ones that belong on a salad. They taste so good, and I cannot get enough of them as a snack. I know when I read this back later, I will be very confused and concerned.
As I am writing my March favorites down, I am, of course, wearing my “performative eye patches” wearing skincare eyepatches through everyday occurrences. And I am not the only one who does so; every girl seems to be wearing eye patches everywhere. To the gym, to target, even on a first date. I haven’t done any major research that these are harmful in this fashion. So, let me act like Hailey Bieber in the grocery store.
That’s it for this month, Xoxo.
